A few of my books on rationing and the war years have been bought new but the vast majority of them have been bought as used second-hand copies off Amazon or eBay, from charity shops and car boot sales ... and a couple have been kindly gifted to me by blogging buddies and friends.I will eventually have them shown below in the order that I am reading through them this year. The ones that are already numbered are either read, or are in the process of being read.

My favourite little book for recipes and information on the rationing years.
A fascinating book with lots of the leaflets and advertising pictures from the war years.

A couple's account of living for a week on WWII rations. A very light read and some good information but some annoying proof reading mistakes ... well annoying if you're main job right now is proof-reading. 😄
A brilliant book, TV series and DVD.
One of the best books to get if you are wanting to learn about rationing and the war years from the lady who helped bring the UK healthily through the war.

ReplyDeleteI am looking for two Good Housekeeping Institute Books at a good price, Wartime Cookery 1944, and Soups, Sauces, Salads And Vegetable Dishes 1945.
Also, How to Cook the Prestige Way 1950, though there are some good modern Pressure Cooker books.
Marguerite Pattern’ s Basic Basics, Soup is another favourite.
I haven’t found a book, but there is quite a lot on hay box cooking available on line.
